About this speaker

Heather Hunter is a graduate student at Wichita State University. In the three years that she has attended WSU, she was able to hold a GPA that allowed her to graduate magna cum laude, became the President of the First-Generation Student Organization (FGSO), and a selected as a McNair Scholar. After becoming the leader for FGSO, Heather noticed something that has affected many first-generation students (FG), imposter syndrome. Under the guidance of Dr. Jason Herron, Heather developed a research study to examine those feelings of inadequacy and impostor syndrome that many expressed. She is committed to completing graduate education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, which will allow her to develop skills that help individuals cope with daily challenges, find solutions, harness their strengths, combat weaknesses, and, ultimately, overcome their most significant obstacles to assume more control over their lives.
